In the top right corner of your course you can click the Edit Mode button to turn the Edit Mode on and off. When Edit Mode is ON, you see all the course content and the editing controls for each item. Edit Mode OFF hides the editing controls but still displays any content that would normally be hidden from a student.
By default, Edit Mode is turned On for instructors. When edit mode is turned on, an instructor can see all course content whether it is set to be visible or not. Metadata stores information about a content item, including bibliographic, lifecycle, and copyright information. With metadata, you can import content from and export content to other applications that use IMS (Instructional Management Systems) standards, creating interoperability for learning content.

Discussion Boards are asynchronous threaded conversations within the Blackboard environment. Organized into Forums, the back-and-forth exchanges among faculty and students are further organized into threads. A forum usually poses a question to the class, or is focused on some other topic to keep the conversation going.

Instructors can create assignments in Blackboard as a way for students to submit course work. A column is automatically created for each assignment in the Grade Center.
