Inline Assignment Grading provides a way to grade assignments within your Blackboard course. Instead of needing to download student files for viewing, instructors are able to view these files “inline,” i.e. in the web browser, without the need for plug-ins or additional software.
Click anywhere in a cell to access the management functions or assign a grade. Select the cell or grade value to edit an existing grade or add a new entry. After you assign a value, click anywhere outside the grade area to save. View submissions.
To select Result and Feedback options, go to a content area and locate a deployed test. Click the chevron next to the test name and select Edit the Test Options. In the section titled Show Test Results and Feedback to Students on the Test Options screen, you will see the available options.

Comment icons point out your instructor's comments throughout your paper. You can view all comments in the sidebar to the right of your document. Click on a comment to highlight its location in the document. If a rubric was used to grade your work, select the View Rubric icon to view details.
Note: Student users do not have access to the Grade Center; columns are viewable to them via the My Grades tool link located on the Course Menu.
There are many options for grading in Blackboard, ranging from entering grades directly in the grade center to grading offline and uploading grades through a CSV file. This tutorial will cover the basics of grading directly within Blackboard.
Within your Blackboard course, scroll down to Grade Center located in the left-hand navigation menu.
Consider using Blackboard Annotate for inline grading markup and insert comments directly into submitted written assignments within your Blackboard course.

You can choose to grade assignments anonymously and assign other graders to help you with your grading tasks.

Choose how grades will appear in the Grade Center and to students in My Grades. Only your Primary selection appears to students.
Letter grading schema: For a quiz, a student's raw numeric score is 88 out of 100 points possible. In a grading schema in which a percentage of 87 to less than 90 equals a B+, a student's score of 88 results in a B+. In the quiz's Grade Center column, a B+ appears. If you release the column's grades to students, letter grades appear in My Grades.
You can choose not to show grades to students when creating or editing a column. You can make the uppermost value in a grading schema greater than 100%. For example, if a student earns 100% or more, you can assign A+ to those scores.
You can edit an existing grading schema and save the changes within your course. For example, you can lower the percentages needed to achieve the letter grades. New schemas and edits to existing schemas only appear in the course you're in.
You can delete the default letter grading schema only if you haven't associated it with a Grade Center column. If no letter grading schema exists, Letter isn't an option in the Primary or Secondary Display menus. If no check box exists for a schema, you have associated it with a Grade Center column and can't delete it.
To create a new gradebook category, select the Settings icon. In the Gradebook Settings panel, select Add New Category and type a name. Each time you create a graded item in your course, you have the option to change the grade category so the item is grouped into one of the custom gradebook categories.
The Gradable Items list is your default view of the course gradebook. You can view all the coursework you've assigned and your grading progress. You can also access the management functions.
In list view, students' grade pills display "0" when no submissions exist and the due date has passed. The label Automatic zero appears next to the grade pills. The label Complete also appears as you have nothing to grade. Automatic zeros post automatically.
In the Status column, you can see completed work, items that need grading, and grades you need to post . You can also view the grades and feedback you’ve provided, create accommodations and send direct messages. You can select items that need grading and the submission opens.
Automatic zeros are assigned to work that's past due when you add a new student or group to your course. If a member of a group has a due date accommodation, the group inherits that accommodation. No one in the group receives an automatic zero after the due date passes. More on due date accommodations.
You can create and manage grade notations to override a student's overall grade if their performance falls outside the defined schema. For example, if a student has to withdraw from your course in the middle of a semester, you can use a grade notation to indicate the student's circumstance or situation without assigning an actual grade.
You can use categories when you create calculated items, such as an assignments average.
In the Grade Center, the default display is “score” or number of points. Choose to show students a letter grade, percentage, or score based on the way you calculate your overall grade.
In Blackboard (http://blackboard.uscupstate.edu), discussion forums can allow course members to have the thoughtful discussions that take place in the traditional classroom. By using rubrics and grading feedback, instructors can highlight the skills that students are using well and those that may need specific improvements.
Log into your Blackboard course and click on the Discussion Board link in the course menu.
You will now see a list of discussion forums in the course. Hover over the forum you wish to enable grading and click the chevron next to the forum you wish to grade and select Edit from the menu.
Scroll down to the Grade section of the Forum Settings allows instructors to set up grading options in the forum. The options are as follows:
With graded discussions, instructors can assess students' ability to: think critically, express their thoughts in a clear way, and communicate with others. Instructors can show a student where their contributions excel and where they can improve by assigning them a grade. Discussion boards also create a permanent record of participation.
