How to evaluate clinical faculty?

Clinical Faculty Instructions for On-site Evaluation 1 Review patient notes written by the student if available. 2 Gather feedback as available from the student’s preceptor in the areas of professional/therapeutic communication, interviewing/assessment skills, interpersonal NP patient relationship, formulation of diagnosis and treatment plan, critical thinking and application of Advanced Clinical Psychiatric Nursing Practice. 3 At the conclusion of the visit, give detailed constructive feedback to the student including areas for improvement. 4 If you have any concerns and need to make an additional site visit please discuss with course faculty prior to making that decision. 5 Complete and submit all travel expense reimbursement forms to the Department of Nursing within 30 days. All requests for reimbursement submitted more than 60 days post evaluative visit will NOT be accepted by the department. 6 Complete a final evaluation and summary of student’s performance that includes grades for journals, process notes, and self-evaluation. Submit this summary and final grade to Blackboard.

What is the third point of contact?

During the third (and final) point of contact, the preceptor will complete the preceptor evaluation with the student. You will join the conversation with student-directed self-reflection, review, and summarization of key learning points during the practicum experience.
