Many musicians and entertainers were involved in making the Bakersfield Sound a global phenomenon, however none were more well-known than Country Music Hall of Fame® members Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
They wanted fairness because of the hardships they experienced especially in their household growing up. They also did not want their gender being associated with specific roles in society that would limit their ability to work certain jobs.
