September 3: What to expect the first week on campus

There has been a lot of news this week about returning to campus, so we have pulled together some quick answers to many of your last-minute questions before we see you next week.

August 30: Important update from President Dr. Kathy Denton

Over the past week, I have had several meetings with the provincial government, public health officials, and the presidents of BC’s post-secondary institutions about plans for a safe return to campus.

August 24: Mask update and vaccination passport requirements

As we continue to navigate the pandemic and our safe return to campus, the Provincial Health Officer has updated several safety protocols: specifically, requiring masks in all indoor public spaces starting Wednesday, August 25, and the introduction of the BC Vaccine Card (passport) for many non-essential activities beginning Sept. 13.

Will the College start hosting events and large gatherings on campus again?

The College is accepting requests for larger events on campus. Participants must review and agree to our communicable disease plan and Facilities use regulations. Does the College have contingency plans if there is a sudden spike in cases again?

Yes, return-to-campus planning is taking into account the potential need to return to remote learning and working. We recognize that the ever-evolving conditions of the pandemic require adaptability to maintain campus safety, while attending to operational needs.

What happens if someone on campus gets COVID in the Fall?

The Return to Campus Guidelines highlights that while eliminating the COVID-19 virus will not occur in the near future, we can certainly adapt to living with COVID-19 as we do with other manageable seasonal ailments such as influenza.

Is there be a limit to how many people are on campus at once?

No, there is no limit to how many people can be on campus at one time. The Order of the Provincial Health Officer for Gatherings and Events currently restricts certain types of gatherings including non-educational (i.e., non-essential or discretionary) activities, including graduation ceremonies, parties, recitals, and concerts.
