First of all, Canvas' Dashboard can be seen as similar to Blackboard's My Blackboard, with updates from courses and access to those courses. It's here on the Dashboard that we get our first difference from Blackboard. Instead of courses just being listed via text, Canvas displays them as tiles with text, images, and course specific notification icons.

We use our SIS imports to enroll all of our faculty and staff into that one course using the enrollments.csv file. This file is generated every night from our Student Information System and uploaded into Canvas automatically.
Students are automatically enrolled into official academic course sites in Canvas using their enrollment data in Banner, and those enrollments are managed with Canvas.
A course site isn't visible to students until the instructor manually publishes the Canvas site. If the semester/term has already started and you are definitely registered for the course, contact your instructor and ask them to publish the course.
