When you override a grade, the Override icon appears in the cell. When you assign a grade to a cell with no attempt for an assignment or a test, it's an override grade. The Override icon appears in the grade cell.
An attempt grade refers to the score that a student receives for an actual attempt. An attempt grade could be a score automatically created from a test, or it could set manually, for example by an instructor viewing an Assignment submission and entering an attempt grade.
You can also access submissions on the Needs Grading page. The Needs Grading page is discussed later in this workshop. Some types of questions, such as true/false and multiple choice, are graded automatically, while others, such as short answer and essay questions, must be graded manually.
The colors map to these percentages: > 90% = green. 89–80% = yellow/green. 79–70% = yellow.

You can't edit a submitted assignment, but you may be allowed to resubmit it. However, you can't resubmit all assignments. Check if you can submit an assignment more than once. If you can't and made a mistake, you must contact your instructor to ask for the opportunity to resubmit the assignment.
