Canvas Discussions are a native tool in all Canvas courses. Instructors may create both focused and threaded Discussions. Discussions are often used to promote student interaction and exchange of ideas, in online and hybrid courses. Canvas Discussions can be ungraded, graded, assigned to groups, and even peer reviewed.
Canvas provides an integrated system for class discussion threads, allowing both instructors and students to start and contribute to as many discussion topics as desired. Discussions can be created as a graded assignment for grading purposes, or simply serve as an ungraded forum.
Viewing Discussions: To view a discussion, click the Discussions link in the course-level navigation. Discussions are organized with the newest discussions on the top. You can use the "Unread" or "Assignments" button to sort the topics by unread or graded conversations.
Teachers can use the Discussion Board in their course to let students talk back and forth about various topics. You can post text, video and audio, as well as files depending on how your teacher set up each topic.
