Blackboard Blackboard is a software application that provides both a student portal and a course management system at Cal State East Bay. Access Blackboard with your NetID. Blackboard course sites begin as an empty “shell”. There are several kinds of Blackboard shells. Production Shells are tied to student enrollment and are created automatically for all courses offered each semester. Other types of shells faculty can request are: CSU Course Template Shells, Master Shells, Community Shells, Development Shells and Continuing Education Shells.
Blackboard is the database where a student can see the past and present classes they were and are enrolled in. It gives the modules, assignments, grades, activities, discussion boards, groups, tests/quizzes, and a lot of other things for the students to navigate through easily.
