What is CSCC blackboard?

Blackboard is the primary tool the College uses for online learning. Blackboard is our Learning Management System, and all course sections have their own Blackboard course shell. It's critical that you use Blackboard to provide course materials, course information, announcements, grades, assignments, assessments and other information that you want your students to access.

What is a blackboard announcement?

What Are Blackboard Announcements? Announcements is a feature located in all CSCC Blackboard courses that allows instructors the ability to quickly update students with course related information. Instructors have the ability to post, edit, and delete course announcements.

What are students required to do in a forum?

Students are required to respond to at least one classmate’s posting (also with a minimum word count) Students are required to use proper spelling, grammar, and cite sources. Forums questions and scenarios require learners to use their own experiences and relate the discussion to course objectives.

Do students have to interact with classmates?

Every student is required to interact with a classmate. Students have more time to present their ideas and answers in a thoughtful manner. Discussions are not dominated by the loudest or most extroverted students.

Can instructors see the grade center?

Instructors can see a full Grade Center and manage it. Students only see a page with a list of assessments and their own grades. NOTE: All College faculty are required to use the Grade Center in Blackboard. According to a resolution approved by Academic Council:

Latest Updates

Student instruction and services will remain primarily remote for the Summer 2021 semester. Exceptions will be made for in-person instruction and support when remote options are insufficient. More information will be shared about expansion of in-person support as we get closer to the semester start.

Blackboard

Blackboard is our online learning management system. If you’ve already taken classes at Columbus State, you’re probably familiar with accessing course content in Blackboard. If not, we will give you all the support you need to master Blackboard in no time.

Usernames & Passwords

You can change or discover your account information at password.cscc.edu. This update will apply to all CSCC systems (Blackboard, email, CougarWeb, etc.) Do not use the reset link provided by Microsoft.

Email

In addition to Blackboard, email is the main way we connect with students. You will receive emails from your professors, as well as important messages from the College on deadlines and events on campus.

Disability Services

Disability Services is ready to remove barriers to online learning. The department can provide adapted texts, help with testing accommodations, note-taking assistance, and other accommodations.

Software

Many classes will require specialized software, in addition to Blackboard.

My instructor is holding a live online class meeting using Zoom? How do I join the virtual class meeting? Typically, you find a link in the course menu of your Blackboard course.
