Blackboard administrators, instructors, course builders, teaching assistants, and graders can see and access unavailable courses from the My Courses tab and the course list, but they're marked as unavailable. Students can't access unavailable courses regardless of the course duration. Unavailable courses don't appear in the course catalog.

The instructor has not yet published the course for student view (most common reason). The student has not yet successfully registered and paid for the course. There may be an issue with the student's enrollment. The student may have a hold on his/her record.
Course Builder. The Course Builder role has access to most areas of the course. This role is appropriate for an assistant who shouldn't have access to student grades. If the course is unavailable to students, a course builder can still access the course. The course builder can't remove an instructor from a course.

A course must be made available before the enrolled students will be able to access the course and its content. An instructor may want to make a course unavailable during the building process or after a scheduled class has finished.
Students cannot access unavailable courses. Unavailable courses do not appear in the course catalog. Email sent via the Blackboard course will be delivered to enrolled students even if that course is unavailable.
Select Filter by to sort the table based on availability status for the tool and for the role users have in a course. Filtering makes it easier to see which tools are available and visible, and change settings based on those criteria.

Student access to summer semester courses ends on October 1. Student access to fall semester courses ends on February 1.
All Blackboard courses are automatically hidden from students. If the name of your course is followed by the words “NOT AVAILABLE”, that course exists on Blackboard but is currently hidden from the students.
