To open the Collaborate Panel go to the lower right-hand corner of your screen and click on the purple button with the double arrowhead in it. The first time you open the Collaborate Panel, it will open the Chat panel by default. The Collaborate Panel also gives access to the Participants list, Sharing area, and My Settings area.

Collaborate's chat history only has 50 messages displayed at any given time. Scroll through the messages or use the hidden keyboard controls at the top of the Chat panel if you use a keyboard to navigate.
If someone uses inappropriate words in the chat, those words can be filtered out in both the live session and the recording. The words are replaced with a series of stars.
Chat emoji. An important part of a classroom dynamic is the non-verbal communication. The look on someone's face, or hearing their tone, tells you a lot about how they are getting along in the class. Emojis bring that non-verbal communication to a virtual setting.
Use the Select skin tone button to change the skin tone of all human emoji at once. Or use Unicode characters to set the skin tone for the emoji when you use it. Select skin tone: Select the Select skin tone button and choose the tone you want.
Moderators can choose to allow participants to only chat privately with moderators. Moderators also have their own private chat already created for them. Participants won't see the Moderators chat channel. If moderators want to supervise private chat, the option must be selected BEFORE the session starts.
An alert appears at the top of the private chat channel informing users that the chat is being supervised. If you don't select it , you don't see the private chat channels.
If a session is being recorded, chat messages in the Everyone channel are being recorded as well. Private messages and chat messages in breakout groups are not recorded. More on chat messages in recordings.
Desktop sharing is useful for instantly sharing what you are looking at on your screen with the people you are meeting with. For example: Share a learner’s assignment (Word file) and make changes in real time. Help a learner who is having difficulty understanding how to create formulas in Excel.
To stop sharing, select the Stop button in the upper right-hand corner of the Media Space.
Navigation tools display at the bottom of the Media space for shared files that include multiple pages, such as PowerPoint slide decks, or PDF files, allowing the moderator or presenter to navigate forward and backward through the various pages of the file.
Moderators can choose to allow participants to use the Content Editing tools for real-time annotation of shared files. Screen reader users can access text from PowerPoint and PDF files uploaded in the session, as opposed to the Share Application option.
