Protect the Floors

Using a drop cloth, cover the floor and the area where you will be painting. This will help ensure carpet and other flooring are protected from paint splatter.

Gather Your Materials

Once you have spread out the drop cloth, gather all of your materials and place them on top.

Prep the Wall

Before painting or priming the wall, check to make sure the surface is smooth.

Clean the Wall

Once you've sanded and spackled the wall, use a damp cloth to remove any dust.

Tape the Area

Use painter's tape to tape off the baseboards, moulding and any light switches.

Use Your Chalkboard Wall

Once the wall is dry, you'll want to condition or prepate the wall by rubbing chalk all over the surface and erasing.
