Desire2Learn is the innovator. They are constantly pushing the envelope and adding new features. This is both a good and difficult thing. On the one hand I have learned tons about what I might be doing from D2L. They invite client interaction with the company and push me to be innovative myself. If you like that, then they are the place for you.

This is a big loss for Blackboard, and it comes on the heels of losses for Liberty University (to Canvas), University of Groningen (to D2L), and Johns Hopkins University (to Canvas). Blackboard has won a few dozen schools (taking away from another incumbent LMS) over the past two years, mostly in Latin America, the Middle East, and southern Europe.
