Oct 18, 2021 · The TEL team are often asked which browser to use with Blackboard. We thought it was worth sharing a few tips and recommendations to help you – whichever browser you chose to use. Blackboard is compatible with the main browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Edge.
Internet Explorer: Run or save the Windows installer BlackboardCollaborateLauncher-Win.msi. Select Run to start the Blackboard Collaborate setup wizard. Start the setup wizard. If you see the Modify, Repair, or Remove installation screen, the launcher is already installed. Select Cancel to exit the setup wizard.
Use the following steps to download and install the Blackboard Collaborate Launcher: On the Room Details page, click Join Room or, in the Recordings table, click a recording link. Blackboard Collaborate prompts you to download the launcher installer if you have not installed the launcher or if your browser "thinks" you have not installed the launcher.
Unsupported browsers may work properly with Blackboard Collaborate. If you experience issues, update your browser and operating system to the latest version. If after the update you're still experiencing the same issue you may have your administrator submit a support case on Behind the Blackboard.

For anyone serving in the role of Moderator or Presenter in a Collaborate conference, Blackboard recommends using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. As of now, these are the only browsers that support WebRTC (Real-Time Conferencing) technology and Collaborate's Share Application feature.

The Windows version of the Blackboard app is no longer supported and was removed from the Microsoft Store on December 31, 2019. The iOS and Android versions of the app are supported and get regular updates.
