The true learning power of Turnitin in terms of academic integrity is realized when students perform their own originality check. If students submit their draft assignments to Turnitin before the due date, they can review the Originality report and revise their document or citations before submitting their final version on the due date.

When teachers set up the Turnitin assignment, they have two options: a) to submit their students’ papers to the standard paper repository (e.g. Turnitin’s database) or b) not to submit their students’ papers to the repository.
