Chalkboard vinyl is just what the name implies. It is designed to be used as a chalkboard. However it does not really work all that well with regular chalk. We do have our Bistro Chalkboard Markers that work exceptionally well with it. These markers are waterbased and clean off nice and easy with a damp cloth.

The product I came to these reviews through was Cricut stencil vinyl. It is not regular vinyl that you use to leave permanently on products. It is a translucent light blue, thicker vinyl, with a grid on it and is sticky on the back. It is used to make stencils, not to be used as actual vinyl to be left on products.

Scrape off as much of the sticker as possible using a dull edge knife or metal spoon. Apply liquid dish soap and scrub with a sponge scrubber or soft bristle brush. Rinse with water. Repeat as needed.
With any dust or chalk on the board, vinyl can not adhere. You don't have to use a pencil to draw or write on your chalkboard, just add some chalk to it. You wouldn't think it was possible, but you won't think it's possible. Vinyl should never be compromised.Feb 14, 2022
Vinyl is not gonna stick to the chalkboard paint. When I do chalkboards, I use a paint mask, lay that down first, lightly Scotchbrite my surface (I usually use factory-finished MDO), wipe clean with 91% alcohol, then apply a few coats of chalkboard paint.May 8, 2020
