Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is an alternative to Zoom. It allows instructors to meet synchronously with students at a set time and place. Like Zoom, BB Collaborate also allows hosts to share content or a whiteboard, record meeting sessions, create breakout rooms, and poll participants.May 23, 2020
Open the Collaborate panel and select Open Chat. You can also supervise all private chats. If you want to supervise private chats or allow participants to only chat with moderators, you must select each option in Session Settings BEFORE the session starts. Don't miss any chat messages while presenting.
Similar to Blackboard Email, Messages are internal to Blackboard. The messages tool allows you to easily manage Blackboard communications within your individual Blackboard courses.
From the student list, you can send a message to anyone involved with your course. Select the three dot menu at the right end of a student row. Select the Message Student option. The Message panel will open at the right side of the screen.

Blackboard Collaborate is free for all staff to use, and there is no restriction on the maximum number of sessions that can be run at any one time.
