Blackboard Learn Ultra Welcoming Learn Ultra as our new Virtual Learning Environment At the start of the 2021/22 academic year, we will be moving to a new platform for teaching and learning: Learn Ultra. This Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) will replace the teaching and learning parts of the existing Blackboard Learn system, better known as duo.

With a modern, intuitive, fully responsive interface, Learn Ultra better engages students, eases the burden on educators, and clears the path to success. From September 2021, Teesside University has moved to a new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) - Blackboard Ultra . Blackboard Ultra is a modern, responsive platform, designed to function on all devices (including mobile) and will enhance the student learning experience through the creation of an expansive learning ecosystem.
The Ultra Course View is cleaner with a more modern design and easy-to-use workflows. It also has powerful new tools that are not available in the Original Course View, like Discussion Analytics. There are some features of the Original Course View that are not available in the Ultra Course View, however.
"Ultra" describes the transformation of the user interface and workflows in Blackboard Learn. Check it out! The intuitive, fluid interactions in our modern design are simple and fun to use. Use any device! With our responsive design, the interface adjusts to fit on any computer, tablet, or smartphone.
From the content area select Tools and More Tools. Select Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. By default the link name is Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. When you add Blackboard Collaborate to your course content, it links to the tool, not a specific session.

There are improvements to the Ultra Calendar as well as advanced filtering options for the Gradebook, submission linking, and calendar links for Ultra Peer Review. Students can now mark and track progress and the student experience is improved with a new navigation menu!
Select the Experience the new Learn icon in the top-right corner of the page. In the pop-up window, start the conversion to the Ultra Course View. You'll receive an email notification when your course is ready. From the Courses page, access your course and check out how your content looks in the Ultra Course View.
The first programmes with the Ultra course view were launched in January 2019 and by 2019/20 all courses will be on Learn Ultra, making Northumbria University one of the first Higher Education Institutions in Europe with a full Learn Ultra deployment.Jul 2, 2019

Log into Blackboard Learn and enter the course. In the Course Management menu under Customization, click Properties. Under Set Availability, check the radio button next to "Yes" for Make Course Available. Click the Submit button.
