Step 1 - Configuring your Blackboard integration in Turnitin. The Turnitin administrator must first configure the Blackboard integration before the Turnitin Building Block can be downloaded and installed. The account administrator should log into their Turnitin account at www.turnitin.com or at www.turnitinuk.com if you are in the UK.
Creating a Turnitin assignment. After logging into Blackboard, select the Courses tab from the menu at the top of the page and switch Edit Mode on. This toggle can be found in the top right-hand corner. Select a course from the Course List. From the left-hand navigation, select Content under your course title.
A common message is " Error communicating with Turnitin. Try to resubmit the file. If the problem persists contact your administrator." This error message commonly appears if there is an internet issue or Turnitin is not available. You can try to resubmit the file by pressing on the folder.
Check your tech. Is your operating system and internet browser supported by Turnitin? Take a look at our system requirements to be sure. If your system meets our acceptance criteria and you continue to experience issues submitting your paper, please try using a different internet browser as this may resolve the issue.
To add a Turnitin assignment, select the Assessments drop-down menu, then select Turnitin Assignment. On the assignment creation page, enter an assignment title and an optional point value for the assignment. Only alpha-numeric characters should be used when creating an assignment title.
Turnitin error messages will appear, if you have previously set up an account through the Turnitin website (or automatically through the Assignment submission in Study Desk), and you are trying to create a new account.

Click on the content area in which you wish students to access Turnitin. From the Assessments menu, select Turnitin Assignment. This will open up a window to the Turnitin system within Blackboard Learn.
To submit a paper to a Turnitin assignment in Blackboard, the user must log in and upload a file to an existing assignment. Turnitin assignments cannot accept student submissions until the assignment start date and time has passed.
From the Course Tools drop-down menu, select Turnitin Assignments. This will show all assignments associated with this course. Select the assignment to view its Assignment Inbox. This allows you to view the papers that have been submitted to the assignment.

Turning in a corrupted file Close the file and reopen it. If the file was successfully corrupted, for Windows users, you will see '' The document path is invalid'' while Mac users a ''Convert File'' dialog box will appear. Then submit the corrupted file via Turnitin and begin completing the real assignment.
Turnitin does support PowerPoint files, however, text with visual effects - such as shadows and 3D - is not supported because these prevent the software from reading/extracting the file's text. Therefore, we recommend that any visual effects be removed prior to submitting to Turnitin.Nov 17, 2020
