The proxy information should pass automatically from Java Web Start to Blackboard Collaborate. If it does not, a Connection Failed error message will appear, and it may be necessary to manually configure the proxy settings in Blackboard Collaborate.

By default, Collaborate with the Ultra experience uses the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) to send information. UDP doesn't wait to establish a connection before sending a packet. It simply sends the packet making it fast and efficient.
Collaborate with the Ultra experience uses HTML5 Web Socket traffic to connect to session servers. Users trying to connect from networks that do not allow HTML 5 Web Socket connections won't be able to launch Collaborate with the Ultra experience.
The primary reason we typically see a 502 bad gateway error is due to an issue with the web host. Sometimes a query, script, or request will take too long and so it is canceled or killed by the server. A lot of hosts, especially shared hosts implement what they call a “kill script.” Basically what this does is it will terminate a request after a certain period of time so that it doesn’t take a site down or impact other users. If you do a Twitter search for “ bad gateway ” you can see thousands of tweets happening every day alerting their hosting company of the problem.
Unlike 503 errors, which are used for WordPress maintenance mode and tell Google to check back at a later time, a 502 error can have a negative impact on SEO if not fixed right away. If your site is only down for say 10 minutes and it’s being crawled consistently a lot of times the crawler will simply get the page delivered from cache. Or Google might not even have a chance to re-crawl it before it’s back up. In this scenario, you’re completely fine.
The 502 (Bad Gateway) status code indicates that the server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, received an invalid response from an inbound server it accessed while attempting to fulfill the request. Every time you visit a website your browser sends a request to a web server.
Finally, you can also try restarting PHP. If you’re a Kinsta client, you can easily restart PHP from the tools menu within the MyKinsta dashboard. If your host doesn’t provide this, you can always open up a support ticket and ask them restart PHP.
Collaborate with the Ultra experience requires a HTML 5 Web Socket connection be allowed on browsers and networking appliances such as proxy servers.
To test the Web Socket connection please use the same setup that is failing to connect to the Collaborate with the Ultra experience. For example if you are using a proxy server, please try this test from behind the proxy server.
When using the overwrite file option in Content Item, the error below is displayed. However, the overwrite is successful. “Unexpected Error. Please try again. If problem persists, please contact your system administrator.”
