Under the Select Columns section, click on a column or category to include in the weighted grade. Use the arrow to move the selected column or category to the Selected Columns area. On the Grading Schemas page, click the Letter Action Link to access the contextual menu. Select Edit. On the Edit Grading Schema page, edit the Name, if desired, and add an optional Description. In the Grades Scored Between text box, enter the percentage range for the letter grade.
When you use Categories for Weighted Grades with columns equally graded, Blackboard takes the grades from each category and comes up with a grade for that category. Blackboard will then take all the grades for each category and put them together. It then will take into account how much each category is weighted.

Weighted totals are calculated based on percentages and not based on grading schemas/letter grades. Columns included in the weighted total aren't displayed using the same grading schema as the input grade values.

A Weighted Total Column calculates and displays a grade based on the result of selected columns and/or categories, and their respective percentages. For example, tests are worth 40% of the final course mark, assignments and quizzes 40%, and final exam 20%.
