System roles

System roles control the administrative privileges assigned to a user. This enables administrators to share administrative privileges and functions with other users in Blackboard Learn.

Course and Organization roles

Course and organization roles control access to the content and tools within a course or organization. Each user is assigned a role for each course or organization in which they participate. For example, a user with a role of Teaching Assistant in one course can have a role of Student in another course.

Institution roles

Institution roles control what brands, tabs, and modules users see when they log in to Blackboard Learn. Institution roles also grant or deny access to Content Collection files and folders. All licenses have a limited default set of institution roles. Organizations with access to community engagement features may add new institution roles.

Gather requirements

The method you use to create a new role is influenced by the requirements. For example, if you need to create a new role that’s very similar to the existing Grader role but with slight modifications, you could easily copy that role and make slight adjustments as needed.

Test the role

Create user accounts that you can use to test new roles. For example, create a test user account for each institution, system, or course role and log in as the test user to see what users with that role will see when they access Blackboard Learn.

Add attendance from the gradebook

In a new course where no grades exist in the gradebook, select Add Attendance.

Delete attendance

In the Ultra gradebook, you can delete attendance if no attendance records exist. In grid view, select the Attendance column heading to open the menu and select Delete. In list view, access the attendance row's menu to select Delete.

Meeting view

In the Meeting view, you can mark each student's attendance. You can also use the menu in a status's heading to mark all students present or absent. Then, you can change individual students' statuses or clear all marks. Your work is saved as you go.

Overall view

In the Overall view, you can mark attendance, view attendance history and class summary statistics, and create new meetings.

Student summary in grade pill

The grade pill for each student displays the overall attendance grade with the schema you chose in the Settings panel, such as A+ instead of 100. Select student names to view summaries of their overall attendance records. You can see how many class meetings each student has missed. This view is read-only.

Overall course summary

The Overall view displays course summary statistics about your students' attendance. These statistics are included:

Add a meeting

In the Overall view, you can add more than one meeting for attendance on a day. For example, if your class met for a field trip after your regularly scheduled class, you can add a meeting and mark who was present. Select the plus icon next to an existing meeting's date to add a new meeting.

Plot

In the mid-1950s, Richard Dadier is a new teacher at North Manual Trades High School, an inner-city school of diverse ethnic backgrounds. The film marked the rock and roll revolution by featuring Bill Haley & His Comets ' " Rock Around the Clock ", initially a B-side, over the film's opening credits (with a lengthy drum solo introduction, unlike the originally released single), as well as in the first scene, in an instrumental version in the middle of the film, and at the close of the movie, establishing that song as an instant hit.
