Are you experiencing problems trying to reorganize document within your Blackboard course? If so, you are not the only one. I have had problems moving items and I know of at least one professor who has had issues. I have figured out an alternative method for reordering content.
I first experienced a problem with dragging and dropping content while working with adding the new template to some courses. When I started to drag an item to a new place, suddenly the course went crazy. Fortunately, there is another method to reorder the menu. Let me show you that method.
While adding content to a course, I noticed that the drag and drop function also had problems with pages longer than one screen. The steps are the same as for reorganizing the navigation menu only that the reordering button is in a different place.
Menus: An options icon appears for components with menus, such as content items, course menu links, or Grade Center columns. The options in the menu vary based on the component. If you see a gauge icon next to your files, your institution uses Blackboard Ally to measure the accessibility of your course content.
By default, your Original course includes a Home Page on the course menu. The Home Page is a course module page. You can rename or delete this page, and create other course module pages.
With your keyboard, you can move an item to a new location and move an item into a folder. Tab to an item's move icon. Press Enter to activate move mode. Use the arrow keys to choose a location.
After you add content to a course, Ally creates alternative formats of the content based on the original. For example, if the original content is a PDF, Ally creates audio, electronic braille, and ePub formats of the same content. These formats are made available with the original file so everything is in one convenient location.
You can delete an item from your course or hide it from students to preserve the information. Students can't access hidden items on the Course Content page. If you delete a folder or learning module that has content, the content is also removed from the Course Content page.
