An attempt grade refers to the score that a student receives for an actual attempt. An attempt grade could be a score automatically created from a test, or it could set manually, for example by an instructor viewing an Assignment submission and entering an attempt grade.
You can allow students to submit more than one attempt for an assignment. Multiple attempts can help students stay on track, raise the quality of assignments, and ultimately improve student success and retention. Students can submit drafts and earn credit on improvements.

Multiple Attempts The number of submissions and the ability to re-submit an assignment is controlled by the Instructor of a class. If the assignment is set to allow re-submissions, then when you go back to the assignment, a button will appear near the bottom of the screen labeled "Start New Submission."

Overall attempt score is once quiz is published, If you go go Quiz>Grade>Grade one of attempt without publish and then later publish you will see the difference.Jul 21, 2021
Override grades are grades you assign manually, for example, if you type in the grade pill in the gradebook. An override label appears next to the grade. In the grade pill, you can type a numeric value of no more than five digits.
When you assign a grade to a cell with no attempt for an assignment or a test, it's an override grade. The Override icon appears in the grade cell. You can assign a grade for an interactive tool's gradable activity when no activity exists, but no icon appears in the grade cell.
