Extra credit assignments should be set to zero Points Possible. Then the Total column's possible points won't be affected, but any extra credit points awarded will increase the student's total points. Edit Column to change the Points Possible to zero. Contact the IT Help Desk with any questions.

If you assigned a grade and then exempted it, the grade remains available on the Grade Details page. You can also exempt a grade on the Grade Details page. Access the cell's menu and select Exempt Grade. You can clear the exemption with the Clear Exemption option in the cell's menu.
In the Grade Center, locate the cell with the student's graded test or assignment grade to override and access its menu. Select View Grade Details. On the Grade Details page, select the Manual Override tab and type a new grade in the Override Grade box. Optionally, type Feedback to User and Grading Notes for yourself.

An extra credit assignment will not negatively impact a student's cumulative grade. The calculation of extra into the cumulative grade is often misunderstood as teachers think of adding the extra credits points directly onto the cumulative grade; the grade book does NOT work this way.
