Groups usually consist of a small number of students for study groups or projects. These groups have their own collaboration areas in the course so that they can communicate and share files. Your instructor places you in a group or allows you to select the group you want to join.
Group work. Instructors can create group assignments, tests, and discussions where you can collaborate with other students. Your instructors can also create course groups that are listed in the Details & Actions panel. Your instructor can enroll you in groups or ask you to join groups.

Once inside your Group, you will find the tools your instructor has made available to you. Your instructor may not turn on all the available tools. Be sure to ask about any tools you want to use but do not find on your Groups page. Review any instructions provided by your instructor on how to utilize these tools to complete group work.
Students can be placed into groups within your Blackboard course. Groups can be given access to a number of tools such as their own discussion board which only they and the course instructor can view. Groups can also be used as part of the rules for Adaptive Release.
You may wish to add a Groups link to your Blackboard course menu so that students can easily find this area.
