Installation of Blackboard on Windows requires super-user privileges; thus you must be logged in as the Windows domain user (such as "blackboard"). On Linux, you must be logged in as bbuser, and all directories required for access by the installer must be permissioned appropriately to give bbuser write privileges.
Click on the Join Room button in the first box (the general room for the course). Then, the room (as shown below) will come up on the screen. For first-time users, click on the link “download the Blackboard Collaborate Launcher” Click on the Download Launcher button. A pop-up window reminds you to install the launcher.
The Windows version of the Blackboard app is no longer supported and was removed from the Microsoft Store on December 31, 2019. The iOS and Android versions of the app are supported and get regular updates.
In the bottom-left corner of your browser window, Chrome shows you the progress of the download. When the download is complete, click the downloaded file to start the Blackboard Collaborate setup wizard. Internet Explorer prompts you to run or save the Windows installer BlackboardCollaborateLauncher-Win.
You can launch Blackboard Collaborate Ultra sessions from the Blackboard app if a link is provided within a course. You're directed to a web browser to join the session. Collaborate is supported on these devices and browsers: Android: Chrome browser.
When you click Join Room on the Room Details page or a recording link in the Recordings table, Blackboard Collaborate checks to see if you have the launcher installed. If you do not, Blackboard Collaborate prompts you to download it.
