When will Fauquier County schools be open in 2021?

Effective April 29, 2021, Fauquier County Public Schools will make face coverings for students and staff optional while participating in outdoor activities such as PE, recess, labs, athletic practices and events. FCPS students and staff will continue to maintain social distancing outside and should avoid congregating in large groups.

When is kindergarten in Fauquier County?

Kindergarten registration for children attending Fauquier County Public Schools will be held April 5-9, 2021. Children who are five years of age on or before September 30, 2021, are eligible for kindergarten.

VDOE Releases Annual SOL Test Results

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has released SOL test results for the 2020-2021 school year and updated School Quality Profile reports for each school and school division.

Masks Required Beginning August 16

Beginning Monday, August 16, 2021, Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) will require all staff members, visitors, and students to wear face masks at all times indoors, except while eating, drinking, at nap time, when exercising, or playing a musical instrument.

FCPS Announces Policy for Providing Free Meals

Fauquier County Public Schools today announced its policy for providing meals for children. All schools in the division will be participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) as implemented under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.

FCPS Virtual Academy Set to Open Fall 2021

Fauquier County Public Schools is accepting applications for the FCPS Virtual Academy, set to open August 11 for the 2021-2022 school year. Interested K-12 students and families should visit the FCPS Virtual Academy website at bit.ly/FCPS1Virtual to begin the application process.

Face Masks Optional in Fauquier County Public Schools

Fauquier County Public Schools no longer requires the wearing of masks in FCPS buildings, buses or grounds. Students and staff will continue to have the option to wear face masks if preferred. The updated mask protocol took effect on July 1 to align with the expiration of Governor Northam’s Amended Declaration of Emergency, Executive Order 51.
