On December 30 th 2021 CUNY migrated our Blackboard hosting environment to Blackboard SaaS, a cloud computing environment. As part of the new Blackboard SaaS platform, updates to functionality will be released on an ongoing, rolling basis throughout the year, allowing CUNY to bring new features to our community faster and with greater flexibility.

Yes. Blackboard leverages Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser to prevent and detect cheating during online exams and SafeAssign plagiarism checker to identify plagiarized content. Based on statistics and usage patterns, we determined that early mornings and Sundays are the times that Blackboard Learn is used least. As a result, we have reserved the following times for maintenance windows: 4 AM – 6 AM Monday through Friday. 12:00 AM (midnight) - 12:00 PM (noon) Sunday mornings.
