Blackboard Connect will add your file to the importing queue and list it under the Select… button. If you are a top-‐level user, you can choose to import your data file into a specific account under you or you can load your data file into all the accounts by selecting ALL from the Select Site Drop down menu.

What is blackboard CourseSites?

Control Panel > Packages and Utilities > Import Package/View Logs > Import Package. On the Import Package page, browse for the course package on your computer. Select the course materials to include and submit.

Can I import a course package from another course?

Select Import Content > Import Course Content and choose the course package to upload from your computer. All of the content from the package imports to your course. The new content appears at the end of the content list. The import doesn't include student enrollments or data, such as discussion activity and grades. You can import compressed files only.

Group codes

Group codes are unique identifiers used strictly for import purposes. You may reveal a column in the interface to see the group codes, but you can't edit group codes while in your course.

About content areas

Content from content areas appearing on the course menu that have the same name in the package as in the existing course will be added in the same content area. Nothing is removed from the course and replaced with content from the package. Imported content is appended to existing content in the same content area.

About discussion board forums

Include starter posts for each thread in each forum (anonymously) or include only forums with no started posts in the course copy.

About course links

Links to parts of a course that aren't imported will break when the links appear in the destination course. For example, if a link to a test appears in a content area and you choose not to copy tests, the link to the test will break.

About delegated grading

When you import a course without enrollments into an existing course, the delegated setting is brought over as enabled for all existing delegated grading assignments. All current users who can reconcile are also set to grade all submissions.

About attendance data

Export/import creates an attendance column that you can't delete, but no attendance data is added.

Import content

On the Course Content page, open the menu on the right side above the content list. Select Import Content > Import Course Content and choose the course package to upload from your computer. All of the content from the package imports to your course. The new content appears at the end of the content list.

When the workflow is complete, if some items from the Original Course View weren't imported into the Ultra Course View, a number is listed.

What format is Connect 5?

For this option, you need to be able to produce a file that meets the exact specifications required for upload into Connect 5, meaning, it has the right headers, is in the comma or tab delimited format, and does not require any manipulation (such as to remove contacts, concatenate fields, etc.)

Can you turn off a transfer in CDU?

You can see the results of each upload right in the CDU, you can turn off the transfer at any time and even execute a transfer immediately. You can set up multiple transfers. For instance, one for each contact type, and even set up automated outreach messages using the CDU.

Does Blackboard Connect charge for data?

Blackboard Connect does not charge extra for data automation. The four types of automated transfers available are: The first option is a program developed by Blackboard Connect called the Connect Data Uploader, or CDU. The CDU supports Windows only, but there are 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
