Andrew Hill began his teaching career as a Computer Skills teacher at Martin Magnet Middle School in 2005. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education. In 2011, he completed his Master of Business Education from East Carolina University.

Jeannette Hill joined the Apex High School staff in July 2004. Previously, she taught in Kannapolis and Charlotte. Alicia Stevenson - Assistant Principal

Alicia Stevenson joined Apex High School in September 2019. She began her teaching career as a high school English teacher in Guilford County. Mrs. Stevenson has spent the last sixteen years in Durham Public Schools as a teacher, instructional facilitator, and assistant principal.

What is Apex Academy?

APEX Academy is a competency-based school, where student skill acquisition is the priority. Here students take assessments to gauge their progress of mastering the rigorous curriculum. Review a given topic, as many times until they understand the material.

What is an independent charter school?

An independent public charter school devoted to the enrichment of our students' futures. Working everyday to engage our students to become active learners and support in developing their own unique voice. Why did APEX become a charter school?

The financial crisis starting in 2008 forced APEX to become an independent public charter school in order to protect our innovative competency-based and social-emotional support model, as well as retaining much needed resources.

When did Apex Academy open?

APEX Academy opened in September 2008 as an innovative competency-based school within LAUSD structured as a pilot program co-managed by LAUSD and Diploma Plus and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
