If you're not copying content from a previous Blackboard course you can start by creating a content area which is a new page in your course with a corresponding left menu link. The content area is where you can add new Items, Folders, Learning Modules, etc. You can create as many content areas as you need.

One type of web-based learning content you can use in your course is called an SCO, or Shareable Content Object. These SCOs are gathered together into a compressed, zipped file called a content package. The zipped file can be unpackaged and played through a content player.
The SCORM Engine supports content that conforms to the SCORM 1.2 standard, the SCORM 2004 standard, as well as AICC and the playing of Tin Can API packages. Blackboard Learn currently doesn't include a Tin Can Learning Record Store (LRS) however basic data passed will be viewable in the Learn Grade Center.
When a SCORM package has been set for grading, you can view attempt details related to the users' interactions with the content. The details may include the total time the user has viewed the content, the completion status, responses to any questions contained in the package, and whether the responses were correct.
Most of the time, you don't need to access or change the SCORM player Advanced Options because the default settings are set for maximum compatibility and performance. The content package should already have the intended navigation, flow, and behavior, and the default settings are most likely to display it correctly and consistently.
The Navigational Controls allow you to include buttons, bars, and other navigational aids students will see and be able to use when accessing the course content using the SCORM player.
The Launch Behavior options control the initial appearance of the content when first launched by students.
The Rudimentary Sequencing options enable you to control what should happen next, under both normal and error conditions, when a student either completes or leaves a SCORM Content Package before completion. Based on these settings, the SCORM player determines what should happen next.
What’s the difference? Item allows you to type text that will appear directly on a Blackboard page, such as an introductory paragraph, a list of tasks, or even an entire written lecture. Item also lets you attach one or more files, such as a PDF article, a document, and Powerpoint slides. The student will see the text you typed as well as links to the files you attached.
Images, (or video and audio files) can be added to your course in a variety of ways. You can embed them within an item and you can add them on the page directly with the Build Content button. To learn more about this, see adding images.
After you create a content area, you can create content items within it to present your course material. You can include content such as folders, text, file attachments, links to websites, tests, assignments, and multimedia. NOTE: When performing the instructor functions, ensure Edit Mode (button on top right hand side of the screen) is ON.
Folders are a type of course area that you can use to organize content. You create folders in existing content areas. After you create a folder, you can add content and additional sub-folders to it. For example, in a content area, you can create folders for each week of your course.
The Content Market workflow simplifies the discovery and addition of content and tools from external sources. You can access valuable learning materials from Blackboard's partner publishers, such as Macmillan and Jones & Bartlett.
LTI technology opens your course up to a wealth of trusted publisher content that can help save you time as you build your curriculum. LTI tools can be used as tools for your course, or as a marketplace where you can choose and add content where you want it to appear.
Item: A general piece of content, such as a file, image, text, or link to which a description and other items may be attached.
Content Folder: An organizational element that contains Content Items. Folders allow content to be structured with a hierarchy or categories.
Flickr Photo: A Mashup that includes a link to a site for viewing and sharing photographic images.
To contain each topic/section/week's materials you can use a Content Folder or a Learning Module. Learning Modules present content to students in the form of a notebook. There is an integrated Table of Contents that lists everything the instructor adds to the Learning Module. Content Folders resemble computer file folders.
A good basic unit for adding content is an Item. Items can be added to either a module or folder. An item can contain text, attached files, web links, images, and more. Descriptive text can be added as well. For more information about Organization and Adding Content, select from the following:
Learning Modules and Content Folders are shells in which other types of content, such as files, are added and stored. If the parent module or folder is made unavailable to students, the items within it are also unavailable.
LinkedIn Learning is an American massive open online course website offering video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative, and business skills. It is a subsidiary of LinkedIn. It was founded in 1995 by Lynda Weinman as lynda.com before being acquired by LinkedIn in 2015.
Links can be made between areas of the Blackboard course, and a glossary may be added including common terms and definitions. Once content has been added sophisticated rules may be used to make content items available to students once they have fulfilled certain criteria. Use the guides listed below to find out how to add content to your course.
It is possible to embed a Twitter feed, search, or hash tag into a content item or announcement that you add to your Blackboard course. Note that this method may stop working if Twitter change the way their service works.
