While there is not a way to receive automated emails alerting you to student non-participation, Blackboard offers several methods (other than grades) to gauge student activity.
Access an assignment from the main menu or within an individual course. On the submission list, tap Ready to Grade. Select a student submission. Or, you can tap Begin Grading to start grading the submissions in succession.

In Section 3: Select Columns, you will specify how Blackboard will calculate the percentage grade. Click on the Total Column (left pane). Then click the > button to pop it over into the Selected Columns section (right pane). This will basically tell Blackboard to convert your total score into a percentage.
89–80% = yellow/green. 79–70% = yellow. 69–60% = orange. 59–50% = red.

Find the discussion board in two places: On the course menu, select Discussions. On the course menu, select Tools and then Discussion Board.
To view grades for all of your courses, select the arrow next to your name in the upper-right corner. In the menu, select My Grades. You can sort your grades by All Courses or Last Graded. If your work hasn't been graded, grade status icons appear.
Use a calculator to divide the top number by the bottom number. You can use a basic calculator to figure out your percentage grade on the test. Just divide the top number by the bottom number. For example, take 21/26 and plug it into the calculator as 21 ÷ 26.
