Add a meeting

In the Overall view, you can add more than one meeting for attendance on a day. For example, if your class met for a field trip after your regularly scheduled class, you can add a meeting and mark who was present. Select the plus icon next to an existing meeting's date to add a new meeting.

Delete a meeting

You can delete a meeting in either view, but at least one meeting must remain. You can't have an empty Attendance page. If you have only one meeting and you delete it, a new Today meeting replaces it.

Specific scenarios and the results

If you copy a course with attendance data into a new course or an existing course with no attendance data, the source course's attendance data is not copied. One attendance grade column without data is added that you can delete.

Add the Qwickly Tool

You can record attendance in any Blackboard area but the typical use case is to record attendance at a module level.

Mobile access

Typically students will check in to Qwickly on their mobile device and the navigation system in Blackboard collapses to be responsive to mobile devices. This does cause confusion for many and the problem is described in more detail here.

Configure the default Qwickly settings

Select the link that you created when you added the tool. If this is the first time you, or a colleague, has accessed the tool you will be presented with the configuration screen which allows you to specify some default options. Select Begin Set Up. Each setting has some contextual help available by clicking the question mark beside the text.

Take Attendance

Once the default settings have been configured you will have the option to Take Attendance when you click on the link to Qwickly. Any of the default options can also be changed before you take attendance.

Attendance Record

This is where you view your cohorts attendance reports. Eacdh student has a row showing their attendance record with a tick for attended and an X for absent. On the top left of this screen there options for Help, Download the attendance data as a CSV file and finalise attendance.

Groups

It is often the case that you wish to take attendance for a subset of the whole cohort for times, when a group of students are together rather than the whole cohort. Qwickly makes use of the Blackboard Groups tool to facilitate this and it is necessary to create groups for any subset of the cohort that you will be recording attendance for.
