The Grade attempts setting determines how the final grade is automatically calculated, but you have the option to override the grade. Each attempt is subject to the due date you set for the assignment.
In the Control Panel, click on Grade Center > Full Grade Center. Hover over the test attempt that you would like to reset, and click on the drop-down arrow. Select View Grade Details. The student will be able to re-take the test.Feb 16, 2018
Click on the Ignore Attempt button to ignore a student's attempt. When choosing Ignore Attempt, student will be able to submit the assignment or test again; however, unlike Clear Attempt, his/her previous attempt will be kept in case you need it in the future.

Locate the student and the assignment for which you would like to allow an additional attempt. Hover over the the grade area and click the gray drop-down arrow for more options, then click View Grade Details. Access the cell's menu and select Exempt Grade. You can clear the exemption with the Clear Exemption option in the cell's menu.
Topic: Exempting a Grade You can exempt a grade from a student's record. When you exempt a grade, the grade is ignored in all Grade Center calculations. The grade cell displays a blue square. The grade remains available on the Grade Details page, and you can clear the exemption at any time.
The Attempts tab lists all submitted attempts. You can view each attempt's submission date, feedback, and grading notes to yourself.
